So I've been on Twitter a lot lately. Early morning, there was an unfortunate accident with our plant, "Lucky Paws" (Real name of plant is "Panda plant," more info about species, click here). We tried to salvage all the leaves to clone them. I took a pic with my iPhone and uploaded it to Twitpic, and one of my Twitter friends (@hungry_traveler) wanted links to documentation of our process. I was inspired by @hungry_traveler to start documentation on Flickr, here.

I plan on documenting, and re-potting the leaves as soon as they grow roots. Then we will probably give them away via Twitter or Flickr, and hopefully they document their process and send us links because we certainly won't be able to keep all 23 Panda plants in our tiny New York apartment. I hope this works. I'm crossing my fingers.

My friends Nick and Robert convinced me to download this iPhone game last week. I wasn't going to until I saw the "Gossip Girl" badge. Anyway, this game is amazing, or maybe it's the weather, or both. For the past week, I've been out and about checking in and leaving tips here and there (trying to earn points and badges), and definitely stimulating the economy. You can also be a mayor of a venue. Nick told me I was mayor of Battery Park. I describe it as a Yelp+Twitter+Dodgeball game. I've already recruited 2 people to play the game with me too. One was even helping me to figure out the Gossip Girl badge (I have a feeling I'm going to have to go to UES). Visit http://playfoursquare.com if you are interested.

Btw @BlairWaldorf: Dennis Crowley who went to NYU, designed this mobile game. Non-ivy's rock!!! :P

If you have the Gossip Girl badge, ping me.

I'm wondering why when I uploaded this photo on Flickr on a Saturday night, it received 174 hits in 3 minutes. I mean, I saw a line out that restaurant, but it must be good if there was a line and it got 174 online hits within minutes. In fact, someone commented on my Flickr asking if this is the place that serves famous soup dumplings!

Anyway Joe's Shanghai is on Hell Street in NYC. Such a cool address, lol.

My favorite flavor is coconut. And this coconut doughnut is probably my favorite dessert of all time!!! When I visited Doughnut Plant a couple of weeks ago, they were all out of this flavor, so I had to go back. It is divine (texture, taste/flavor). There's a creamy filling in there that is so smooth, yummy!!! I wish they made this in a birthday cake format.

I just bought the Arduino Duemilanove, and now you don't have to worry about toggling the jumper, and it has 3.3 and 5 Volts. With the other Arduino, I always had to scour around for a 3.3 voltage regulator, but now I won't have to with Arduino Duemilanove.

There's also a cool print of Italy on the back of it. I think it is approximately $30-$35 still.

I just watched this documentary on NOVA that was pretty effective in convincing me that our source of water is endanger. This group EIS, Extreme Ice Survey is surveying and documenting how fast ice is melting in Greenland, Alaska, the Alps, etc. which is our source of drinkable water. EIS plants cameras to document the ice and glacial activites. They build these shells for cameras that I think operate using power generated from solar panels to power these cameras for one year. The photography is amazing and beautiful, but the video is scary.

I'm not sure if I buy the "green-cause" marketing of this shoe, but if you're at all interested in fabrication, I thought this was kind of cool. It's a 6-piece shoe assembled with little-to-no-glue. So the 6 pieces are sewn, and the 7th piece is glued, so it's actually the 7-piece shoe. The "green theory" is that because the cuts are so calculated that Adidas wastes less material. Anyway, I thought the fabrication part was fascinating. It isn't seamless, but the seams are pretty clean.

This shoe reminds me of Heather Dewey-Hagborg's shoe design in Tucker's Industrial Design class at ITP.

Also, I thought this chair was cool. You can flip the swatches of upholstery to change the pattern and design.

It was an opening for a show, and some of the designers were there. The store sells a lot of eclectic collectibles. They are located in Williamsburg.
